Surrey District Sea Cadets Summer Camp 2023

Sea Cadets from Surrey District travelled to North Yorkshire Water Park near Scarborough for this year’s summer camp.

The camp was supported by a grant from The Connaught Trust of £1000 which funded a range of equipment including first aid boxes, gas stoves, survival bags, compasses, head torches and carry dry map cases.

The courses available for the cadets during the camp included sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, rowing and power boating. Each course also enjoyed a day out in York seeing the sights and spent time at the National Railway Museum.

Younger cadets who were on Summer Camp for the first time joined the acquaint course. They undertook taster sessions of the water activities and also enjoyed a day out in York, where they had fun seeing the sights of the city by following the “Cat Trail” and also spent time at the National Railway Museum. The acquaint course also had a day trip to the Zoo.

Cadets spent time in the evening having fun at the Aqua Park and a trip into Scarborough town for a fish and chip supper.
