Trustees fly VR simulators at Southampton Aerospace Centre

The Connaught Trust trustees had a very enjoyable evening meeting everyone involved with the Southampton Aerospace Project and seeing the VR simulator equipment in action.

A grant from The Connaught Trust supported the Hants & Isle of Wight Wing Royal Air Force Air Cadets to establish two Aerospace Centres for their cadets. Each is equipped with the latest VR technology, enabling cadets to learn flying skills in a real-life environment.

Our special thanks go to all involved in organising the evening, especially:

Wing Chair: Sqn Ldr (Ret'd) Paul Freeman

Wing Treasurer: Wg Cdr (Ret'd) Tony Clavell

Deputy OC Wing: Sqn Ldr Brett Shepherd

Project Manager: Sqn Ldr Paul Mitchell

OC 424 Sqn: Flt Lt Bryn Buckley

Wg Aerospace Officer: Plt Off Grace Dobson

Wg Media Officer: WO Emily Campbell

Pilot Officer Grace described how the project had been coordinated and the impact on the cadets in terms of their experiences and training. We saw the equipment that had previously been used for training, and it is clear to see what a vast difference the new technology will have on this unit!

We eagerly await the official opening events for the two Aerospace Centres later this year.
